With reference to the letter by Ibrahim,(1) we are pleased to hear that the reader concurred with our discussion in the article(2) that serial hip examinations beyond newborn clinical screening should be performed. This would detect the late presenters, defined as those presenting after three months of age, at an earlier stage for non-operative intervention.

The timeline suggested by the reader for the serial hip examinations to be performed during vaccination appointments is logical and opportunistic. We will consider it and look into the possibility of incorporating it into our institution’s protocol.
